Recently, or so it seems, everyone just realized that the earth's natural resources are not infinite and that our lives on this planet are destructive. Finally, there has been a general call to action across many communities and with the Live Earth concerts during the summer of 2007, the music business has began to work to raise awareness.
Music and musicians have influenced others and created social change throughout the decades. With this in mind, we decided that the music business could do more, if we had an organization and community aimed at increasing awareness and providing resources to help us "do our part" in reducing our impacts to the environment while influencing our fans to do the same. This new organization is called the Green Music Alliance.
The Green Music Alliance is an organization founded in 2008 for music industry companies who realize that it is time for us to examine the way we do business, create products, promote music and sell music. Members of the Green Music Alliance strive to reduce the carbon footprint of their companies and raise awareness about how to “make a difference” while thriving as a digital music industry.
